Ubisoft has added over 10 of its major titles to the Microsoft Store on PC, right before the launch of the ROG Xbox Ally. This move makes the games more accessible to Windows gamers but they’re not Xbox Play Anywhere compatible, so previous console purchases won’t carry over.
Now available directly through Microsoft’s PC storefront, the Ubisoft titles include:
- Anno 1800
- Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
- Far Cry 4
- Far Cry New Dawn
- Far Cry Primal
- Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
- Skull & Bones
- Star Wars Outlaws
- Steep
- The Crew 2
- The Crew Motorfest
Before this update, these games were only purchasable through Steam or Ubisoft Connect. Bringing them to the Microsoft Store is a clear sign of Microsoft strengthening its PC ecosystem, especially with the portable ROG Xbox Ally entering the market.
Despite the convenience, Ubisoft has not made these titles part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program. That means PC and Xbox players will need to buy separate versions if they want to play across both platforms. This decision might frustrate users who expected cross-compatibility.
This drop builds on a previous batch of Ubisoft games added to the Microsoft Store. With the new additions, a total of 27 Ubisoft games can now be bought directly from Microsoft’s PC store.
It’s a significant push, clearly aligned with Microsoft’s plans to boost the game library available for ROG Ally users. Although Play Anywhere support is absent, this makes it easier to download and play Ubisoft titles without going through third-party launchers.
The move also indicates a closer relationship between Ubisoft and Microsoft, which could lead to more integration down the line, potentially even through Game Pass or cloud support in the future.
For now, if you’re a Ubisoft fan getting the ROG Xbox Ally, this update makes it much easier to play titles like Prince of Persia or Far Cry straight from Microsoft’s ecosystem just be ready to buy again if you already own them on console.
